CAROLINE RUSH

Tell us a little bit about what you do? Can you let us know what exciting projects you’re working on at the moment?
I have been the Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council (BFC) for 15 years. The BFCs goal is to strengthen and promote British fashion globally, we do that through events such as London Fashion Week, which is 40 this year and has become a globally recognized platform for creativity fashion talent. Our planning for The Fashion Awards is well underway, as the annual international awards for the fashion industry, it also raises millions for the BFC Foundation and its charitable projects which supports the pipeline of talent we have here in the UK.
What draws you to a project? Can you tell me about a project you’re most proud of and why?
It could be anything from the people involved or that it excites the team, but it always has to benefit our designers as they are central to everything we do.  In 2019, the BFC launched The Institute of Positive Fashion as an engine room for change, galvanising the industry to address how it can more positively impact the environment, people and community. This is such an important topic and galvanising the industry into action is extremely rewarding.
Where do you find inspiration?
Through my loved ones. My daughter Lana is a constant source of inspiration, as well as the amazing strong women I surround myself with, which are not hard to come by in this industry!
How do you approach getting dressed every day? Can you tell us a bit about your personal style?
I’m most comfortable in jeans, boots and a black jacket, and you can usually find me happiest when walking my dog, Ruby. Through my work, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to wear incredible pieces, but those that elevate my every day are the most important to me (my Kim Jones for Dior dog walking bag, my Anya Hindmarch laptop bag for example).
What are you wearing here and what made you gravitate towards this look from HUISHAN ZHANG?
I am wearing a gorgeous pink dress by the incredible Huishan. He always manages to get me out of my usual black and jeans. His pieces are comfortable yet incredibly stylish, they are something you can throw on and head to Buckingham Palace or add trainers and meet your friends in the pub. They will forever be pieces I return to in years to come.
