SHINI PARK

Tell us a little bit about what you do? Can you let us know what exciting projects you’re working on at the moment?
I'm an all-round curious cat but my expression has always been through different forms of visual creativity. I started my career as a graphic designer and have held roles in art direction and consultancy, but these days film photography and storytelling feels most like home.  We are currently working on the fourth volume of CUBICLE - a visual arts hardcover book series launched back in 2018; I can't wait to spend the next few months in a creative melting pot with the team.
What draws you to a project? Can you tell me about a project you’re most proud of and why?
For me, it's usually the people and ease of how the project comes about that attracts me to a project most.  I loved creating this story called No Endings End with Alaric Macdonald - a fellow photographer and writer, and everything from conception, production, down to publishing came about so smoothly it was as if we were merely agents of its fruition. Since then, I've always wanted to feel that the project was attracted to me as much as I was to the project.
Where do you find inspiration?
Nature is a wonderful library of inspiration for me—the monumental depths of the ocean and the waves that symbolise the juicy unpredictability of life, whether in career, love or health; the trees that show that forming roots can take time, and the flowers that make you appreciate the impermanence of all things... I've also been carrying my journal everywhere for the past year, and I've found that writing out what I feel in a certain moment has been the best tool in sharpening a creative idea.
How do you approach getting dressed every day? Can you tell us a bit about your personal style?
I used to dress primarily for practicality and the day's plans, but these days I try to listen more to my body and how I feel (or how I wish to feel) that day and now I've managed to transform my wardrobe from lots of trousers and tailored pieces to more flowy, natural fabrics and shoes that I can climb trees in! My personal style now leans into softness that is accompanied with great craftsmanship.
What are you wearing here and what made you gravitate towards this look from HUISHAN ZHANG?
I'm wearing a beautiful white dress that is so perfectly tucked at the waist, which embodies exactly what I love about the ethos of HUISHAN ZHANG - the marriage between a strong feminine flow with expert tailoring.  It also feels a little bridal, which makes my mood soar as I can't wait to celebrate my own new romantic love again soon.
