BEV NGUYEN

Name

Beverly Nguyen, Stylist and founder of Beverly’s New York City.

How has 2021 been for you and which projects are you working on at the moment?

2021 has been a very challenging yet inspiring year. It’s been about relearning, taking the time to carve out space for myself and build my community. I’m working on the launch of my second pop up store at the Rockefeller Center as well as maintaining my first LES location. Additionally, I’m styling pretty much full time.

Which opportunity were you given in your career that will always be important to you. Is there anyone who acted as a mentor to you?
I was given an incredible opportunity at Vogue almost ten years ago which opened many doors for me. Kate Young for the last eight years has been a huge mentor and champion in my life. She’s taught me how to navigate wearing many hats, while gracefully standing up for yourself and protecting your work.

Do you have any special memories of travel to Asia and favourite Asian owned businesses?

It’s endless!!!! I have very fond memories of going to Hong Kong on a fashion campaign shoot. We shot all over the island, ate delicious food and witnessed the bustling streets and life in a beautiful community.
I have tons of Asian owned businesses I’d love to see be celebrated and supported but what I would love to see are my peers and colleagues invested in supporting the protection behind this fund called the Asian America legal defence fund which is fighting towards initiating laws to protect our rights as citizens and help fight those in tough legal pursuits against racial crimes in NY. https://www.aaldef.org

Where are you hoping to travel to next?

Greece.

What you are wearing and what made you choose this look from Huishan Zhang?

I’m wearing the yellow ‘Chloe’ dress. I don’t normally wear colour or anything with a trim but right now I’m ready to take chances and be a little louder. When I put this dress on it instantly transformed my mood and my confidence. I love it.
