Tell us a little bit about what you do? What are you excited for this year? Can you tell us about some of the projects you are working on at the moment?
My name is Renia Jaz, I am a mature (over 50) content creator. I’m originally from Poland I moved to England almost 20 years ago. Fashion is literally my passion. I think I was always interested in fashion. Even as a child I loved dressing up, trying new trends and just having fun with fashion. My Instagram and what I am doing is a kind of a "manifesto" that fashion can inspire and fascinate us regardless of our age. That at the age of 50 and more you can still have an appetite for fashion, be curious and watch the latest trends. I started my Instagram because I wanted to show my peers that women over 50 enter a particular stage of life which can still be interesting and intriguing, and that it's the perfect time to focus on our own needs and pursue our plans and dreams. Fashion is for women of all ages. We can look interesting, stylish and trendy at any age. My aim is also to show that we should not allow our age to exclude us from any areas of life. Women over 50 do not disappear from the face of the Earth. I want to fight with the stereotype that mature women should give up their passions and ambitions. Every year I’m excited about Fashion Month - I love the atmosphere, the people I even love the rush and I cannot wait to see new collections (including Huishan Zhang collection) it’s always such an amazing experience. I’m absolutely excited about each and every project I’m working on right now!
What is an opportunity you are grateful for in your career?
It’s less about being grateful for more opportunity and more of a being grateful for my family. Their support is the most important to me. They encourage me to never give up and to continue doing what I love! Im also grateful for one of my very first collaboration with a well known polish jeweller brand - they believed in me, I feel like this was my break through moment.
Is there anyone who acted as a mentor to you along the way?
My mom was my mentor, she loved fashion; I guess it’s something I’ve inherited from her. What I’ve learnt from her about style I still incorporate into my own way of dressing up.
How do you approach getting dressed everyday?
My style is a combination of classic with a modern twist and elements of current trends. I like to pair unique and extravagance clothes and accessories with classical essentials. I have been working on my aesthetic for years and I think I’m finally at the point whereby I know what my needs are, what I like and what looks good on me. I do not spend too much time getting ready. In my wardrobe I have pieces that I love, I feel comfortable wearing, that reflects who I am. I have a thing for unique shoes and bags, I believe that accessories can make any outfit better.
What are you wearing here and what made you gravitate towards this look from HUISHAN ZHANG?
I fell in love with the dress I’m wearing the minute I saw it on the runway. It is ultra feminine and at the same time very chic. I think that it is impossible to not notice the woman who is wearing this dress. It’s an art and I want to wear it all the time.
