SERENA HOOD
Tell us a little bit about what you do? What are you excited for this year? Can you tell us about some of the projects you are working on at the moment?
After more than a decade working at British Vogue and US Vogue, I co-founded Collagerie in 2019 with fellow former Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers. Collagerie is a digital platform curating the world of shopping, offering inspirational ideas, trusted advice and beautiful buys to suit every budget. It has been very exciting to watch it grow over the past three and a half years, expanding our team and working with brands on collaborations and special projects.
What is an opportunity you are grateful for in your career?
I’ve always been obsessed by fashion from an early age and my first internship was at Elle magazine in NYC, which opened my eyes to how big the industry was. After I graduated from Georgetown, I moved to New York City and worked at US Vogue in the fashion market department. I absolutely loved my years there working under Anna and her team who all taught me so much. I am grateful for every minute I spent there.
Is there anyone who acted as a mentor to you along the way?
It goes without saying that my business partner Lucinda Chambers has been a huge source of inspiration, always offering amazing advice not just in work but in life.
How do you approach getting dressed every day?
I only buy pieces that I truly love and know I’ll wear for years to come, so I must admit I rather enjoy getting dressed every day. I’m definitely a dress girl at heart.
What are you wearing here and what made you gravitate towards this look from Huishan Zhang?
Usually, I wear a lot of colour but every so often I fall head over heels for a LBD and this is my 2023 favourite! I love the beautiful button detailing down the front, paired with the feathered cuffs .This dress is made for going out and really is a forever piece I know I will be taking out of my closet to wear again and again, year after year.
